The state of Amazonas is again in the orange phase, a scenario considered to be of “Moderate risk” of transmission of Covid-19. The change takes into account the increase in the positivity rate for Covid-19 in the last 14 days and the occupancy of ICU beds and clinical beds.
According to the bulletin released by the Fundação de Vigilância em Saúde do Amazonas (FVS-AM), in the period from June 22 to July 5, an increase of 756% was observed in the daily average of Covid-19 cases in the state.
In the same period, an increase of 692% (from 39 to 309 cases) was observed in the average daily number of cases registered in the capital, and an increase of 1033% (from 9 to 102 cases) in the interior.
The data also show that in Manaus, in the last 14 days, the occupancy of ICU beds and clinical beds, in public and private care, designated for patients with Covid-19 increased from 5 to 12 in the case of ICU beds, and from 10 to 57 in clinical beds. In the same period analyzed there were 2 deaths, which occurred in Manaus.
FVS-AM emphasizes the importance of intensifying efforts to vaccinate the population, as well as the continuous offer of diagnostic tests at the entrance doors of health services and strategic points.
According to the agency, considering the population over 12 years of age, patients without vaccination have a 1.7 times greater risk of becoming ill and 5 times greater of hospitalization than those with a complete vaccination status. With regard to deaths, the risk is up to 1.2 times greater.
Vaccination coverage of the primary scheme (1st and 2nd dose or single dose) in Amazonas is 71.7%, considering the population aged 5 years and over. Regarding the population covered for the first booster dose, also called the third dose (12 years or older), the state has 40.5% vaccination coverage. As for the second booster dose or fourth dose, coverage is 18.4%.
