The first wedding dress at Ambani wedding

For the Ambani wedding ceremony, Radhika Merchand wore the so called Breadtraditional dress of the Indian state of Gurujat. The elaborate haute couture creation was created for her by the Indian fashion house Abu Jani Sandeep Khosla, and Radhika chose to complete her bridal look with family jewels that her grandmother, mother and sister wore to their respective weddings. The main colors of the dress were red and white – as tradition dictates – which gave depth to the dress thanks to the ivory-carved and hand-embroidered texture. Length of the veil? Five meters of craftsmanship and pure wonder (and maybe that’s too little?). Finally, the ankle boots: also hand-embroidered with precious stones and sequins.

The second wedding dress at Ambani wedding

Second crucial moment of tradition, second dream dress. Indian fashion house Manish Malhotra designed the dress that Radhika Merchand wore for the I sawa typical ritual during which the bride’s family bids farewell to their daughter as she leaves with her husband. The dress was made with real gold threads and the savoir-faire that brought it to life is inspired by the 19th-century artisan tradition of the state of Gujarat.

The third wedding dress at Ambani wedding

Last but not least, the final masterpiece. “Art and fashion have always been lovers. One cannot exist without the other”: with these words, Rhea Kapoor, stylist for Radhika Merchand, announced the inspiration behind this latest dress, a triumph of extraordinary mastery. The third wedding dress protagonist at the Ambani wedding is the result of a special collaboration between the Indian fashion house Abu Jani Sandeep Khosla, the contemporary Indian artist and sculptor Jayasri Burman, and the stylist Rhea Kapoor. On the entirely hand-painted fabrics, including hand embroidery in real gold and sequins, Anant’s union with Radhika has been translated through images that are deeply meaningful to the two spouses.
