Amber Heard-Johnny Depp, the war continues (out of court)

After victory in the trial for defamation filed against ex-wife Amber Heard, Johnny Depp opened a profile on Tik Tok (the social network where he had won well before the sentence) gaining over four million followers within a few hours. His first post, also published on Instagram, is a video with images of his fans who support him during the trial, accompanied by a letter of thanks: «We all went through it together, we saw it all together. We walked the same path together. We did the right thing together. All because you cared. And now we will move forward together“.

Words that Amber Heard didn’t like at all. So much so that a spokesperson for her told the magazine Entertainment Tonight: «While Johnny Depp says “forward”, women’s rights go backwards. The verdict tells women who are victims of domestic violence that they must be afraid to get up and talk“. Amber had publicly expressed all of her “disappointmentAlready in the aftermath of the sentence: “I am heartbroken by the fact that the mountain of evidence was not enough to counteract the disproportionate power of my ex-husband.” And again: «I am even more disappointed by what this verdict means for other women. It’s a setback. Turn the clock back to a time when a woman who speaks openly risks being publicly humiliated. It dismisses the idea that violence against women must be taken seriously ”.

The war between Heard and Depp continues even outside the courtroom. The process in which both protagonists have told the world about the horrors of a marriage based on violence and degradation ended with the defeat of Amber, sentenced to compensate her ex-husband with 10.4 million dollars (he had asked for 50). But the actress (who according to her lawyer is absolutely unable to pay such a sum), does not fit. And she is ready to appeal. The trial has just ended but perhaps the six weeks of bloody hearings were just the beginning.
