After getting involved in a long legal battle with her ex-husband and actor Johnny Depp, actress Amber Heard has a date set for her return to the screen. She plays the protagonist in the thriller “In The Fire”, which will premiere on the 24th at the 69th edition of the Taormina Film Festival, in Italy.
The film is set in 1899 and tells the story of psychiatrist Grace Burnham, played by Amber. The New York doctor travels to a farm in Colombia to treat a boy with unusual behaviors and abilities.
Throughout the follow-up, the villagers accuse the child of being the devil himself and the cause of the evils that happen in the village.
The 37-year-old actress returns to acting after telling the court last year that her lawsuit against Depp has affected her film career.
According to Amber, the repercussion of the case resulted in the reduction of her participation in “Aquaman 2”. Walter Hamada, director of DC Films, denied the allegation when testifying in court. The sequel is scheduled for release in late 2023.

“This is not a concession,” says Heard of the deal
Amber Heard and Johnny Depp’s long and troubled legal saga began after the former couple’s divorce in 2016, when she accused him of assault.
The process received wide coverage in the international media and ended after a recent agreement between the two parties, in which Amber paid U$ 1 million (approximately R$ 4.86 million) to Depp. According to “TMZ”, the actor must transfer the value to different institutions, including for the Amazon Fund.

In posted statement in December 2022 on her personal Instagram, Amber states that the settlement decision was very difficult. “It is important to say that I never chose this. (…) The villainization I faced on social media is a heightened version of the way in which women are revictimized when they speak out,” she wrote. She also said that she lost faith in the US justice system.
Johnny Depp is also back on set. In May, “Jeanne Du Barry”, a film in which he plays the French King Louis XV, was applauded for 7 minutes at the renowned Cannes Film Festival.
