Amber Heard to pay Johnny Depp one million dollars

A million dollars, that’s it Amber Heard will have to pay to Johnny Depp to compensate him under the lawsuit for defamation which has seen them involved in recent months. The two have reached an agreement, as specified by the actress via social media: “After a long reflection, I have made the difficult decision to conclude an agreement,” she wrote on Instagram. «It is important for me to say that I have never chosen this. I defended my truth and in doing so my life as I knew it was destroyed.’

No “admission”, specified the actress, nor should the agreement be seen as an “act of concession”, but a decision made “After losing faith in the American judicial system, in which my testimony served as entertainment and it has given discussion to social networks».

The actress underlined how the «Abundant and direct evidence that corroborated (her) testimony were excluded, while «Popularity and power mattered more than reason». Johnny Depp, through his lawyers, said he was “Satisfied” with the outcome of the affair, and was keen to underline how his goal was not money, but rather that of “Bringing the truth to the surface”. Depp will donate in charity the figure.

Thus ends a story that has long monopolized attention after the divorce between the two. It all started in 2018, when Heard signed an article published in the Washington Post in which it was defined “A public figure representing domestic violence.” No explicit mention of her ex-husband, who however had felt brought into question because of her previous accusations against him (The actress had made public a series of photos showing her with a swollen face, compatible with possible violence) and from there a lawsuit for defamation had started, to which Heard had responded with another complaint.

Last June, the sentence, with Heard’s defeat, that her husband would have had to pay 8 million dollars. Two, however, for him: the judge, in fact, established that they had defamed each other. After her appeal, the agreement, which closes a story that risked dragging on for a long time.
