According to the source, AMD and Mediatek are in talks to establish a joint venture that will allow AMD to expand its presence in the mobile market.
The sphere of activity of the joint venture is the development of custom-made single-chip systems with integrated Wi-Fi and 5G connectivity. These SoCs are expected to include Mediatek’s high-performance processor cores and AMD RDNA-based graphics cores, which are already being developed for next-generation Samsung Exynos SoCs.

Previously, AMD mainly worked with another member of the mobile market, Qualcomm. Working with MediaTek will allow AMD to reach the entry-level market segment.
Note that this is not yet confirmed information. Neither AMD nor Mediatek announced the talks.
