In the Geekbench benchmark, the AMD Epyc 7643 processor was lit up – a representative of the Milan server CPU line that has not yet been officially presented. And he performed very confidently, 33% ahead of the 64-core Ryzen Threadripper 3990X in the multi-threaded test. And this despite the fact that Epyc 7643 has 16 cores less!

The hero of the news scored 1256 points in a single-threaded Geekbench test, and 33,348 points in a multi-threaded one. For comparison, the Ryzen Threadripper 3990X scores 25,047 points. The advantage of Epyc 7643 in 33% is hard to miss and even harder not to evaluate, given the specifics of the server CPUs. By the way, it should be noted that the Ryzen Threadripper 3990X surpasses the Epyc 7643 not only in the number of cores, but also in frequencies: 2.9-4.3 GHz versus 2.3-3.4 GHz. All in all, AMD’s work on Milan is definitely commendable.

The Milan Zen 3 processor line is expected to make its official debut in March. Epyc 7643 is not the top model of the line, there will be at least 56-core Epyc 7663 and three 64-cores not models.
