AMD seems to be getting ready to introduce its version of the RTX Voice technology that NVIDIA has developed to suppress background noise in real time using algorithms and machine learning. The company posted (perhaps accidentally) on its YouTube channel a promotional video for a feature called Noise Suppression, which works exactly like its competitor, only with Radeon graphics cards. The video hastened to be deleted, but managed to save it and put it on the Internet.
According to the video, AMD Noise Suppression uses a real-time deep learning algorithm to provide two-way noise suppression. During operation, background noise is removed from both outgoing and incoming microphone signals. Apparently, the feature will be integrated into the AMD Adrenalin software.
What remains unclear is how well AMD’s noise-canceling technology works in practice. RTX Voice from NVIDIA does its job perfectly, sometimes it seems like some kind of magic. The video does not say when this technology will be officially presented, or what equipment is required to use it. At one time, NVIDIA expected that RTX Voice would only work on new AI-oriented graphics cards, but then the company added support for the technology on older models without Tensor Cores. Perhaps AMD will follow suit and allow the use of Noise Suppression technology not only on new video cards.
