AMD will have to respond to new cheap Intel processors by re-releasing old models without GPU

Intel has unveiled the entire line of Alder Lake processors, including very affordable models. How will AMD respond? So far, no new desktop CPUs are expected, except for the experimental Ryzen 7 5800X3D. And oldies will take the rap in the lower price segment.

As we’ve heard before, AMD is getting ready to release the Renoir-X line, which will play at the bottom of the price segment, where there are simply no desktop Ryzen 5000s.

The Renoir-X are the same Ryzen 4000 processors, only with the GPU disabled. In theory, this will allow AMD to further reduce the prices of such CPUs. True, we are talking about the Zen 2 processor architecture. It was certainly excellent at the time of release, but even Zen 3 has been on the market for over a year. At the moment, there are data on three models:

  • Ryzen 7 4700 – Eight Cores, 8MB L3 Cache, 3.6-4.4GHz
  • Ryzen 5 4600 – Six Cores, 8MB L3 Cache, 3.6-4.1GHz
  • Ryzen 3 4300 – Quad Core, 4MB L3 Cache, 3.8-4.0GHz

Interestingly, the first information about such processors appeared last summer. Why AMD has not yet released such processors is unclear. When it comes to competing with the new Alder Lake, price will decide. In the end, the younger representatives of the new line have two or four cores, so the old AMD solutions have a chance.
