AMD’s “magic” FSR 2.0 technology will be more similar to Nvidia’s DLSS, but retain its versatility and run on any GPU

It looks like AMD is preparing to introduce the second generation of its FSR supersampling technology soon.

Software developer CapFrameX claims that he has already seen footage from the FSR 2.0 demo, and the announcement may take place already at the GDC event, which will be held at the end of this month. The same developer claims that the footage he sees is impressive.

AMD’s “magic” FSR 2.0 technology will be more similar to Nvidia’s DLSS, but retain its versatility and run on any GPU

With FSR 2.0, AMD appears to be continuing the path it has chosen from the start. The source says that the new technology will still be supported (technically) by any GPU, it will not require artificial intelligence and, accordingly, any specific GPU cores.

But FSR 2.0 will be better than the current version for a reason. The fact is that in the new generation, the technology will move from spatial to temporal scaling, like Nvidia DLSS. This should make the results of the technology work better.

When FSR 2.0 will appear in games is still unclear. Perhaps AMD will hold on to the technology until the release of a new generation of Radeon graphics cards in the second half of this year.
