American actor left series for sexual misconduct, says magazine; know more

American actor F. Murray Abraham, 83, has left the cast of the series “Mythic Quest” after accusations of inappropriate sexual behavior, revealed the magazine “Rolling Stone” this Monday (17).

According to sources heard by the magazine, the actor’s posture during work led to at least two complaints. At first, Abraham was warned to stay away from some of the actresses.

The second accusation would have triggered the definitive removal of the actor, after the case came to the attention of the creator and protagonist of the series, Rob McElhenney.

The departure was announced in April 2022, ahead of the release of the third season of “Mythic Quest”, an Apple TV+ production. At the time, Abraham did not comment on what happened, and the producer Lionsgate only confirmed the news that the actor was no longer part of the team, without giving explanations.

This time, Lionsgate issued a statement upon request: “We take allegations of misconduct seriously and have thoroughly investigated them. As a matter of corporate policy, we do not discuss our personal actions.”

Oscar winner

Of the many roles he played in audiovisual and theater, Abraham recently gained prominence for his interpretation of the character Bert Di Grasso in the second season of “The White Lotus”, a series set in a luxury hotel in Sicily.

He travels to Italy with his son, played by Michael Imperioli, and his grandson, played by Adam DiMarco. The plot of the three revolves around issues related to gender inequality and masculinity. Abraham also recently worked on the Disney+ series “Cavaleiro da Lua”.

The 83-year-old actor won an Oscar in 1985 for his role in the feature film “Amadeus”, directed by Milos Forman. He was also featured in the film “The Grand Budapest Hotel” by Wes Anderson.

Unexpected departure

In the comedy Mythic Quest, Abraham plays CW Longbottom, a science fiction writer and video game studio screenwriter portrayed in the series.

After the unexpected departure of the actor, the production incorporated a farewell to the character in the third season. In the plot, employees of the game design company discover a letter in which Longbottom tells about the diagnosis of a terminal illness. Due to the little time left, he decides to script his own death and falls off a cliff in the Grand Canyon.
