Coinbase Vice President of International Cooperation Nana Murugesan said that the site has submitted an application to the Central Bank of Ireland for a license in accordance with the new EU rules on the regulation of the market for crypto-assets (MiCA).
The head of the international office of Coinbase noted that the company is ready to operate under the MiCA license “from day one” and is confident that the cryptocurrency platform is guaranteed to be able to obtain regulatory approval to operate in Ireland.
Immediately after receiving a universal MiCA license in Ireland, Coinbase automatically receives the right to provide services in the rest of the EU countries.
Coinbase previously criticized and called unenforceable the rules proposed by the US Internal Revenue Service (IRS) to tax transactions with crypto assets.
