American media named the unique and anomalous characteristics of the Su-34 fighter

The foreign information portal The Drive yesterday, on January 10, published quite interesting news, in which it called the Russian Su-34 fighter-bomber the real king in terms of the fuel supply on board.

“The Russian Su-34 Fullback fighter, also known by the nickname ‘Hellduck’, is a true anomaly among military aircraft produced today. One aspect that is particularly impressive about the platypus jet is its ability to carry a staggering amount of fuel for a tactical jet fighter bomber, allowing very long-range missions to be carried out even without air refueling. This is truly the king of fast jets when it comes to how much fuel it can get into the air. ”- A statement from The Drive.

With the current configuration, the Su-34 fighter has an internal fuel supply weighing 11 398 kg, plus the engineers have provided for the possibility of installing additional outboard tanks (there are three in total), so that the fuel supply can be increased to 18 591 kg. Accordingly, the maximum range of the Su-34 is an impressive 4,500 km, which allows the fighter to cover enormous distances. Moreover, carrying six 500 kg bombs on board for bombing, four air-to-air missiles and additional fuel tanks, the Su-34 is capable of covering 3000 km. And by increasing the armament to 4000 kg, the fighter will be able to hit targets at a distance of 600 km – this is an impressive figure.

In addition, the journalists of the publication recalled that the Su-34 belongs to the family of fighters, retaining the ability to conduct full-fledged air battles, but at the same time the aircraft is also a tactical bomber.
