American reconnaissance drone on Mars began to deploy in flight form – photo

Attached to the bottom of the American rover Perseverance, the Ingenuity reconnaissance helicopter began to be lowered to the surface of the Red Planet. This can be seen from photographs from the archive of “raw” images on the NASA website. There are no reports of the beginning of the process on the resources of the US Aerospace Administration yet.

The flying drone is not fixed in a comfortable vertical position so that it can be simply taken and lowered onto the ground. It, together with the blades and supports, is folded in a certain way, and first it must be “unfolded”.

The cost of the Ingeneiti project is about ~ $ 85 million. It is expected that the automated helicopter will for the first time demonstrate the possibility of flying in the atmosphere of another planet. According to NASA’s plan, the drone will make up to five flights.

This is what the flight will look like.
