American tourist posts statement after controversy with vombate puppy

An American tourist posted a statement on social networks after being involved in a controversy when he was filmed taking and fleeing with a wild baby in Australia.

The video, which was widely shared on social networks, shows Sam Jones running toward a car with the vombate puppy in his arms while his mother distresses her.

The publications reverberated negatively, leading Australians to ask the tourist to be deported.

The Prime Minister and the Minister of Internal Affairs of Australia also pronounced, reverberating the matter further.

The American, who has almost 97,000 Instagram followers, had deprived her social networks this week. On Friday (14), she again made her account public and posted two statements about the controversy of Vombate.

In the first shared post, the tourist reports what happened that day the video was filmed. According to her, when Jones found her mother and puppy without moving, she was extremely worried, as “vombates are often run over on the Australian roads.”

The American adds that she stopped to ensure that the animals would leave the road safely so as not to be hit.

When Jones approached, they still haven’t moved. “I was worried that he could be sick or injured, and made a quick trial to get the puppy and see if that was the case. I ran, not to pull her mother’s puppy, but for fear she could attack me. ”

According to her, the quick trial she did at that moment “was never from a place of damage or theft of a puppy.”

As excited as she was excited to see a “so amazing” animal, the tourist says she quickly and immediately she returned to her mother: “I assured that the mother and the puppy gathered, leave together and get out of the road.”

In the statement, the American says she reflected a lot about this situation and realized that she did not deal with her in the best possible way. According to Jones, her only intention was to prevent incredible animals from being run over and ensuring that the marsupial did not need immediate care. ”

At the end of the publication, she apologizes and claims to have “learned a lot from this situation”, and emphasizes to feel a lot for the “suffering I caused.” Jones also says that the intention of the video was not the viralization: “I want to make it clear that it was never about social media or getting likes. This was not staged, nor was it made for entertainment. ”

After he posted this statement on Instagram, Jones made another post with two texts, still on the subject of the controversy of Vombate:

“Am I a villain? Things, dear reader, are not what they seem. By holding a vombate, thousands threaten my life. ”She reports at first publication, sharing that she is receiving several threats.

Quoting the vombates, Sam Jones comments that the Australian government allows and authorizes the slaughter of this species and that land owners tear heavy machines with heavy machinery, poison us with fumigation and shoot them whenever they can. Silently, of course, not to face the wrath that came upon me. ”

Relating the painful slaughter of other animals, Jones makes readers reflect, “It seems kind to you?”

She also cites Prime Minister Anthony Albanese, who spoke publicly about the Vombate video this week, in his statement: “Your Brumbys [tipo de cavalo selvagem] Snowy River and Kosciuszko National Park are being massacred to the thousands on his own-talk to his Prime Minister Anthony Albanese about it. ”

“While the prime minister wishes me badly for taking a vombate, I beg you to take a good look at what is currently being done in Australia around the real problems it faces, the lack of energy for tens of thousands of Australians and the treatment of their native wildlife,” he added.

The American uses the kangaroo, beloved national symbol of Australia, to reflect whether the native species deserves government protection, since, according to her, there is a high annual death rate of this animal.

“In the last 20 years, approximately 90 million kangaroos and Wallabies have been legally slaughtered for commercial purposes and that number is not decreasing. Millions are legally killed each year, ”he wrote.

Jones adds to the text that many articles suggest that she would see a vompact in a zoo and she replicates: “Let’s be clear, raise and keep wild animals in captivity to be arrested in a zoo for our gaping pleasure is a much more blatant sin than holding one for a moment in an effort to help.”

Finally, she asks readers if she, “a person who certainly makes mistakes” is really the villain.

On Friday (14) it was confirmed that the American had left Australia voluntarily.
