China described the stabbing of four American university professors in the northeastern part of the country today (11/6) as an “isolated incident”, assuring that measures are being taken to protect foreigners. “The police, after a preliminary investigation, have determined that this is an isolated incident and the investigation is ongoing,” said Lin Jian, a spokesman for China’s foreign ministry. He stressed that the incident will not affect the relations between the peoples of China and the US. The four American professors from Cornell College in Iowa were injured when they were attacked with a knife in a park in Jilin City, Jilin Province, according to Chinese and American officials.
