American woman who accused Biden of sexual assault wants Russian citizenship

An American woman who had accused during the 2020 election campaign the Joe Biden for sexual assault in the 1990s, applied for Russian citizenship on Tuesday.

Tara Reid, 59, appeared in a video broadcast by Sputnik alongside Russian lawmaker Maria Butina, who was jailed in the US on espionage charges.

Reid explained that she went to Moscow as a mere tourist, but there she felt “safe for the first time in a long time”. She decided to stay in Russia after a Republican politician told her she was in danger.

“I wish to request Russian citizenship” from President Vladimir Putin, she announced, promising to be a “good citizen”.

In early 2020, Reid alleged that Biden, then a presidential candidate, had sexually assaulted her in a congressional hallway in 1993 when he was a senator and she worked for him, according to AFP and the Athens News Agency.

The American president had categorically denied the charge. In addition, several inconsistencies appeared in Reed’s complaint, for example, the complaint she said she submitted to Congress after the incident was not found.

The American, who claims to be an expert on geopolitics, said yesterday that she had received death threats after her allegations were made public.
