Americanas announced this Monday (16) the choice of João Guerra Duarte Neto as the company’s interim CEO, five days after Sérgio Rial resigned after discovering the company’s R$20 billion shortfall.
João Guerra Duarte Neto will occupy the position on an interim basis until 2024, when there will be the first meeting of the Board of Directors following the Annual General Meeting. He will also take on the role of Investor Relations Officer, which was vacant since André Covre left last week, following the discovery of accounting inconsistencies.
The choice of the new chairman took place at the Americanas Board of Directors meeting on January 11, at 4 pm, through a conference call. The CVM published the minutes of the meeting this Monday morning (16).
Duarte Neto is the director (non-statutory) of Human Resources at Americanas and, according to the company, “has a broad track record in the areas of technology and human resources”.
