“Partners may be held responsible if they have any relationship with what happened. Investigations are ongoing and we have to wait for them to reveal to us what happened. In any case, there is already a very harsh punishment for businessmen: their reputation has suffered a lot”, said the economist.
At the end of January, the trio composed of Jorge Paulo Lemann, Marcel Telles and Carlos Alberto Sicupira stated, in a note, that they were not aware of the company’s accounting inconsistencies and believed that “everything was absolutely correct”.
“The market is already on high alert regarding these three entrepreneurs. The companies in which they have stakes are already being judged by the credit market, by shareholders, and clear examples are Light and Ambev”, said Silveira.
“Thus, the market starts to look much more cautiously at all companies that have them as relevant shareholders and with influence on the Board of Directors and appointment of the board”, he added.
