America’s Cup, the female version of the mythical sailing race is born

Waiting for Team New Zealand to reveal where and when the next one will take place America’s Cup, various rumors begin to leak, some even already confirmed, on some news that we will see in the water. All the information and the regulations (which can be modified at will by the cup holders) will be made public on November 17 through the branching of the official protocol of the 37th edition, but we already know that it will not be only the main super-challenge that will keep us glued to the screen.

It is already certain, for example, that there will be the introduction of new classes of monohull boats on foil, (the famous but that we learned about during the last edition), the AC40 and AC37. These sisters of the much better known AC75 will be used in side competitions, in which women and young people will find space to compete.

The AC40s, in fact, will also be used by the teams that will take part in the America’s Cup. Among the news, in fact, there is the one that foresees that sailors they will also have the opportunity to carry out tests with the AC40s, boats slightly smaller than the AC75s and which only achieve slightly lower performance.

All teams who register for the main event must also register a team in the women’s / youth competition. So the appointments double. The first details were clarified by Grant Dalton, CEO of Team New Zealand. «All the competing teams must purchase at least one AC40 that will be used in the preliminary races and then made available for the respective women’s and youth independent regattas to be held at the America’s Cup headquarters. Yacht Clubs registered in the America’s Cup must participate in both women’s and youth events, however registrations will also be open to other countries and Yacht Clubs ».

Here we are, Friday 17 Septemberand the eagerly awaited announcement on date and location, then on November 17 the release of the official protocol with all the rules of the new regulation.
