Amid fear of war with India, Pakistan performs missile test

Pakistan conducted a Military Training with a missile launch on Saturday (3), according to the local Armed Forces press office.

The Department of Inter-Service Public Relations (ISPR) of the Pakistan Armed Forces released a video showing a missile being released in an unknown place, followed by images of Military Officers singing in Urdu: “Allah is the longest! Long life to Pakistan.”

Reuters could not independently verify the place and date the shoot was filmed. However, ISPR has confirmed that Pakistan was a successful launch test with the Abdali weapon system. The Abdali missile has a range of 450 km, according to ISPR.

The test aimed “Validate the operational readiness and the technical parameters of the weapon system” informed the ISPR.

The missile test occurs in a high tensions scenario between Pakistan and India, after an attack on tourists in Caxemira who killed 26 people and attracted New Delhi’s blame toward Islamabad.

Pakistan denies involvement in the attack and has since claimed to have “reliable information” that India intends to launch a military action.

Since the attack on April 22, India has announced a series of measures to reduce its ties with Pakistan, including the suspension of an important water sharing treaty, the closure of the only terrestrial border passage and the prohibition of imports of Pakistan.
