A baby just 8 months old from New York is currently the youngest person in the world to have been fully vaccinated against coronavirus.
Vincenzo “Enzo” Mincolla took his second dose last Wednesday Pfizer vaccine, in the context of a clinical trial for the preparation. The hospital where the baby was vaccinated is one of four in the United States where the Pfizer vaccine for children under 5 is being tested.
America is the only country currently conducting such clinical trials in children, getting the green light from the government to begin trials in children under 12 years of age.
Enzo is one of 16 babies taking part in the first phase of the test, which includes babies from 6 months to 2 years old.
Enzo’s parents, Mike and Marissa Mincolla, are doctors: “We both feel it’s important to end up with pandemic and the fastest and safest way is to get vaccinated, “said Mike Mincolla, adding that he had no hesitation in getting the vaccine for his child.
