A woman from Afghanistan gave birth to a baby girl inside a US military aircraft, which transported her to Rammstein base in Germany, the US Air Force announced on Twitter.
During the flight yesterday, from a US base in the Middle East to Germany, the pregnant woman began to feel contractions and “complications”, according to the tweet.
The pilot of the aircraft “then decided to fly at a lower altitude in order to increase the pressure on the aircraft, which allowed (…) to save the life of the mother”, continued the US aviation administration on the social networking site.
Immediately after landing, U.S. military helps Afghan woman deliver baby on board plane.
Mother and daughter “are in good health”, according to the tweet.
Pictures released by the US military show the mother lying on a stretcher while being carried off the plane by US troops at Rammstein base in southwestern Germany.
