The transaction was carried out with the participation of the real estate company Zome, the law firm Antas da Cunha, the chairman of the notary office of Portugal and Swiss crypto partners. A three-room apartment was bought in the city of Braga.

“This transaction represents a historic milestone, the transfer of a digital asset into a physical asset – a house, without any conversion to the euro. We believe that a new world of real estate business is opening up today!” says local news outlet Idealista.

In April, property owners and agents were allowed to transact with digital assets. Prior to that, the buyer had to convert them to fiat. True, such transactions require additional information: information about the payer’s bank account, crypto wallet address, data of the parties to the transaction, as well as confirmation of the crypto transaction.

In February 2022, a family from the Netherlands, who invested all their money in Bitcoin, explained their move to Portugal by the loyal attitude of the authorities towards cryptocurrencies.

Earlier we wrote about the opportunity to purchase real estate in Turia and the UAE for cryptocurrency. On the other side of the globe, in February 2022, Colombian real estate company La Haus also made the first deal to sell an apartment for Bitcoin. The total property value was $98,000 or approximately 2.45 BTC.
