An error was discovered on the Avalanche blockchain

The error led to an almost complete stop of transactions on the Avalanche blockchain. The reason was the abnormal load on the background of the launch of the new DeFi product Pangolin, the developers wrote on Reddit.

One of the three cross-chains of the network gave out information about the AVAX tokens being moved, erroneous for validators. Users noted that the waiting time for transactions to complete was up to four hours.

Avalanche said the funds are safe and the underlying protocol is in order. According to them, the network went into a “self-healing” mode.

Soon the developers reported that the error was identified, fixed and did not lead to double spending on the network.

On February 9, the ChainSafe development team created a “bridge” between the Avalanche and Ethereum blockchains to move the DeFi assets of the two ecosystems.

In September 2020, the Avalanche project launched the mainnet.
