Three people were injured in an explosion that took place this morning on the top floor of an apartment building in the remote area of Rome Torre Angela.
According to the data so far, the explosion was caused by a gas leak. “I lit a cigarette and everything was blown up,” said the homeowner, who was injured and taken to hospital. His state of health, however, is not considered critical.
At the same time, for precautionary reasons, a series of adjacent apartment buildings were evacuated, because there is a fear that the building in which the explosion took place, may collapse.
“We heard a terrible noise, we thought it was a bomb,” said locals. Firefighters were mobilized immediately and so far there do not appear to be any trapped.
