An Italian Navy ship shot down a Houthi drone in the Red Sea

The destroyer Caio Duilio (D554) of Italian Navy shot down a rebel drone yesterday Saturday afternoon Houthi of Yemen in Red Sea.

In his announcement Italian Ministry of Defense emphasizes that it was shot down in “lawful defense” and that the Houthi unmanned aerial vehicle was flying at a distance of about six kilometers from the Italian ship and was moving in its direction.

Defense Minister Guido Crosetto underlined that “the Houthi attacks are a serious violation of international law and an attack on the security of navigation, on which the Italian economy depends.”

These attacks are part of “hybrid warfare that uses every possibility, not only military, to harm some countries and favor others”, he added.
