An official denies that Kherson was occupied by the Russians, the fighting continues

An adviser to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said today that Russia had not occupied Kherson, a southern port city that Russia had said earlier.

Oleksiy Arestovich said fighting was continuing for the provincial capital of about 250,000, located at the mouth of the Dnieper River in the Black Sea.

“The city has not fallen, our side is still defending itself,” Arestovic told reporters live on the presidency’s website. “Street fights continue.”

“The information that Hersonissos has fallen and so on – is not true. Our army and the local defenders of the city are still resisting in and around the city.”
