An unknown person bought an NFT from the CryptoPunks collection for $17 million

On March 20, 2024, an NFT from the CryptoPunks collection sold for 4,850 ETH. In monetary terms, the value of the token is $17 million.

We are talking about an NFT from the AlienPunks series with number 7804. The purchase that took place was the second largest among the mentioned collection. The previous owner purchased the token in 2021 for 4,200 ETH, which was $7.57 million at the time of purchase.

The buyer of the NFT has not been identified at the time of writing. The Ethereum wallet involved in the transaction was first replenished on March 20, 2024 through the Coinbase cryptocurrency exchange.

The former owner of the token stated that Punk #7804 has not met his growth expectations since the purchase. According to him, he kept the NFT in his collection for a long time, but was unable to sufficiently increase its price. At the same time, the user earned 650 ETH ($2.3 million) from the transaction. He noted that it took him a year to find a suitable buyer.

This is the second NFT from the CryptoPunks collection to be sold in March 2024. At the beginning of the month, token number 3100 was purchased for 4500 ETH. At the time of purchase it was about $16 million.

AlienPunk #7804 became the second most valuable NFT from the mentioned collection. The first place remains with token #5822. It was sold in February 2022 for 8,000 ETH. At the time of the transaction, this amount was $23.7 million.

At the same time, the sale of AlienPunk #7804 ranks fifth in the ranking of the most expensive NFT acquisitions in the history of the industry. First place remains with Mike Winkleman's digital collage entitled “Everydays: The First 5000 Days.” It was sold in March 2021 for $69.3 million.
