An unnamed smartphone maker is already testing Sony’s 50-megapixel 1/1.1-inch image sensor

It has been reported online that Sony has provided samples of a new 50MP image sensor to an unnamed smartphone maker. The optical format of the sensor is 1/1.1 inch. This makes it the largest sensor of its kind. The source recalls that now the largest is the Samsung GN2 sensor used in Xiaomi 11 Ultra. The resolution of this sensor is also 50 megapixels, and the optical format is 1/1.12 inches.
