Ana Furtado misses Kim Petras’ pronoun during Grammy Awards coverage

Ana Furtado made its debut outside Rede Globo this Sunday (5), during the coverage of Grammy Awards via the TNT channel. She commanded the broadcast in Brazil alongside journalist Phelipe Cruz and musician Charles Gavin.

Among the highlights of the night, Sam Smith It is kim petras took the awards stage to accept the award for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance for their hit “Unholy”. In her speech, Petras, a German transgender singer, thanked the recognition and dedicated the gramophone to the trans community.

“Sam Smith kindly wanted me to accept this award because I am the first transgender woman to win. And I just want to thank all the amazing transgender legends before me who kicked in these doors so I could be here tonight,” she said.

This is the first time a trans person has won a Grammy Award. In 2022, the Brazilian Linker was the first transgender artist to win the Latin Grammy in the category of Best Brazilian Popular Music Album, for “Indigo Borboleta Anil”.

Back at the TNT studios, Ana Furtado ended up “ignoring” the German’s speech and preferred to focus on the performance of Stevie Wonder, who had performed shortly before the winners for “Unholy” were announced.

“Amazing, really all very exciting, but are we going back to Stevie Wonder? It’s an entity. What a show he put on”, said Ana before handing over to Charles Gavin, musician and commentator for the award, who then returned to the victory of Sam Smith and Kim Petras.

On cue, Ana Furtado praised the singer’s acceptance speech using the male pronoun: “His speech was very moving, right?” – and corrected himself: “Her”.

historical grammy

Kim Petras not only became the first transgender person to win a Grammy Award, she also performed at the awards with Sam Smith.

When released, “Unholy”, a song that won the award for the artists, was considered a “profane” song, both for the lyrics and for the video clip. Following the theatrical aesthetic, of forbidden desires and sins, the duo performed at the ceremony shortly after the victory.

Beyonce starred in another historic moment of this 65th edition by becoming the biggest Grammy Award winner of all time.

With the win in the Best Electronic/Dance Album category for “Renaissance “, the star now has 32 gramophones – out of the 88 nominations he has already received.

However, Bey did not take the Album of the Year trophy, one of the main awards of the event (despite being the artist with the most victories, she never won this category).

Causing controversies and controversies among Internet users, Harry Styles was the big winner with the album “Harry’s House”.
