Presenter Ana Maria Braga, 75, shared details about her dismissal from Record TV, the broadcaster where she worked between 1993 and 1999.
The São Paulo native was in charge of the successful Note and Anote program at the station, when a disagreement over a charge culminated in her dismissal.
In an interview with the PodPah podcast, the star detailed what happened. “The bishop sent me away. But I was very happy at Record. They paid me handsomely, they fulfilled all the things, as I did with them, but then there came a time when there was a problem and I decided to charge, I went to speak to the person in charge, I think it wasn’t a good day for the person, neither did I I was having a good day, but if it’s fair, it’s fair”, said the communicator, today in front of Mais Você, on TV Globo.
“I said: ‘Look, we have this business and I need it’. Then he said: ‘It won’t work and, if you’re not satisfied, the front door is a use for the house’. Then I got up and said: ‘Here’s the thing: we have a program on Monday, I’m leaving and I won’t be back, but if you want, I’ll stay next week so you can find someone to take my place. ‘. Then he said: ‘No need’.”
At the time, Ana Maria Braga decided to take legal action for unfair dismissal, winning the case ten years later.
“I went out and went to the lawyer, I put together a case against Record that I won 10 years later, because legally there was no justification [para a demissão].”
