MediaTek and Qualcomm are constantly stepping on each other’s heels, and it is not surprising that after the release of Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1 (an improved version of Snapdragon 8 Gen 1), the Chinese company also updated its flagship model – in addition to the Dimensity 9000, the Dimensity 9000+ came out.
The updates are minimal: it’s still the same 4nm chipset, with the same core layout, the same GPU, and support for identical technologies and components. The only difference was the increased clock speed of the productive Cortex-X2 core: 3.2 GHz versus 3 GHz. According to official figures, CPU performance increased by 5%, and GPU performance by 10% (although the video accelerator is the same, Arm Mali-G710 MC10).
The first devices based on Dimensity 9000+ will be released in the third quarter of 2022. Their list is unlikely to be too long, since at the moment there are only 5 smartphones with the regular version of Dimensity 9000: Vivo X80 and X80 Pro, HONOR 70 Pro +, OPPO Find X5 and Xiaomi Redmi K50 Pro.
