The international analyst of CNN Fernanda Magnotta commented on the current political crisis in Venezuela, following the recent presidential elections in the country.
According to Magnotta, President Nicolás Maduro demonstrates a position of strength, backed by the support of Venezuelan institutions.
According to the expert, the Venezuelan government is “doubling down” by strengthening its control over the country’s institutional structures.
“The support that is being declared by decisions from other bodies, such as Congress, as was the case of the Supreme Court, now ratifying the decision of the National Electoral Council, demonstrates that he exercises full control,” Magnotta stated during the CNN 360°.
Military loyalty and pressure on the opposition
The analyst highlighted that Maduro has reinforced the loyalty of military groups and intensified measures against opposition figures.
“He is feeling comfortable reaffirming his actions,” Magnotta noted, indicating that the Venezuelan president does not feel cornered or lacking support.
Magnotta also commented on Brazil’s position in this scenario.
