During the CNN 360° Magnotta explained that this perception of disproportionality has raised concerns about the impact of Israeli actions on the Palestinian population as a whole, not just terrorist groups.
Two-State Solution
The analyst highlighted that there is currently a consensus in the international community that a way out of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict would necessarily involve a “two-state solution”.
This proposal provides for the recognition of two autonomous countries, with their own leaders.
However, Magnotta pointed out challenges to implementing this solution, including the fragmentation of Palestinian leadership between the West Bank and Gaza, governed by different authorities.
Expectations for Netanyahu’s speech
Regarding the participation of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in the UN General Assembly, scheduled for this Friday (27), Magnotta anticipated that he will probably reaffirm the justification of Israel’s actions in response to the attack suffered.
The analyst also mentioned the possibility of Netanyahu criticizing regional leaders who support Hamas and trying to justify Israeli actions in the eyes of the international community.
Magnotta also highlighted the pressure that Netanyahu faces, both internally and from allies such as the United States, for a possible ceasefire.
According to her, the Israeli prime minister needs to balance strategic military gains with criticism of the disproportionality of Israel’s actions in the conflict.
