The International Analyst of CNN Fernanda Magnotta stated that the campaign of former president and Republican candidate for President of the United States, Donald Trump, has adopted a strategy based on mobilizing fear.
Magnotta stressed that the Republican tactic is aimed at raising concerns about potential economic and national security crises.
According to the expert, Trump’s campaign is betting on two main fronts: “It is the fear on the economic side, that there will be another major crisis and that this will affect the average citizen. The second front is the fear of a crisis that involves the security of the United States”, she explained.
American Voter Sensitivity
Magnotta stressed that historically American voters are sensitive to economic and security issues.
Furthermore, the Republican campaign has focused on creating distrust towards the American vice president and Democratic candidate, Kamala Harris.
Trump has been critical of Kamala’s alleged lack of public exposure, comparing the number of times he himself has spoken publicly to the vice president’s appearances.
“He always complains that she doesn’t give many interviews, that she doesn’t expose herself much, and that’s what Donald Trump has been acting on at the moment,” Magnotta explained.
Trump’s strategy comes at a crucial moment in the campaign, with the next presidential debate approaching, scheduled for the 10th.
