Forced pre-installation of the Yandex search engine on mobile devices can negatively affect the company’s reputation. Denis Kuskov, general director of the analytical agency Telecom Daily, told Izvestia about this.

According to Denis Kuskov, the Russian company is not ready for such reputational risks. Yandex needs to consider not the installation of the search engine itself, but the preliminary choice when activating a new smartphone. Users must voluntarily install a domestic search engine.
However, in parallel with this, the pre-installation of Yandex on Russian smartphones will significantly improve the company’s financial position. An organization’s marketing services can increase advertising revenue on mobile devices by a quarter.
The analyst also noted that modern Russian developments do not allow creating a competitive smartphone. Yandex has previously tried to enter the mobile market, but this ended in failure. Therefore, the only option to improve domestic technologies is to forcefully install a Russian search engine on popular gadgets.
Recall that from July 1, 2021, all manufacturers of mobile devices are required to pre-install the Russian search engine by default in the downloaded browser. At the moment, the government has not yet approved which search engine will receive such an advantage, but analysts are inclined to believe that Yandex will become it.
