The co-founder of the L2 network SCROLL E Zhang and the founder of Synthetix and Infinex projects Kain Warwick announced the threat to the future Ethereum due to L2 solutions.
E Zhang said that the introduction of tariffs for L2 solutions is one of the most harmful ideas for the future Ethereum. In his opinion, in the long run it will have negative consequences, despite the receipt of short -term income.
According to him, the more rolls, the wider the use of Ethereum, which strengthens its status as a means of maintaining value. In addition, the expert predicted two possible ecosystem development scenarios:
- Ethereum becomes a means of maintaining cost and an economic center for an ecosystem of 1000 rolls, where it remains the main asset;
- Ethereum chooses greed, introduces taxes for L2 solutions, forcing them to use alternative solutions for data storage. Ethereum loses its relevance, does not solve the scalability problem and, in the end, fails.
He summed up that the project should not squeeze the profit, but should stimulate development.
The founder of Synthetix and Infinex Kane Vorvik spoke about the problem of Ethereum margin and its solution.
According to the analyst, the project loses its profitability due to the development of L2 solutions. According to him, earlier the dominance of the asset in blocks made it possible to maintain a high level of burning.
However, the situation has changed because the L2 networks became cheaper and took advantage of this, redirecting a significant part of the potential burned Ethereum into its own income, Vorvik added.
The expert said that now Ethereum is facing a fundamental question about the restoration of profitability.
However, Vorvik noted that Ethereum repeatedly proved that he was able to solve such “coordination challenges”. According to him, now there is hope for a trend in asset tokenization that is gaining momentum. The expert believes that if the project is a leader in the tokenization sector, then the demand for blockchain will increase, and the problem of low margin will disappear.
