Anastasiades: Turkey’s behavior cannot be treated with double standards

In the Cyprus problem and its ongoing threats Turkey against the Republic of Cyprus and Greece, stated the President of the Republic of Cyprus Nikos Anastasiadis in his intervention in the work of the Meeting of the European Political Community that is taking place today in Prague with the participation of a total of 44 leaders from the states of the European continent.

In his statements to the media, the government representative Marios Pelekanos, referring to the participation of President Anastasiades, said that “the round table discussion in which the President of the Republic participated, on the topic of “Peace and Security” was completed a while ago.

President Anastasiades reiterated his support Cyprus regarding the creation of the European Political Community as all the countries together, of the European continent, can contribute to maintaining stability, security and peace. With regard to the President’s statements, we should say that he documented the similarities between what is currently happening in Ukraine after the Russian invasion and what happened and continues to happen in Cyprus after the Turkish invasion in 1974.

The President of the Republic emphasized the great importance of the international factor reacting to the ever-increasing Turkish provocation and aggression against both Cyprus and Greece. This behavior of Turkey cannot be dealt with by applying double standards. President Anastasiades emphasized how important it is for the international factor to mobilize, so that we can prevent this aggressive behavior.”
