The desire to continue the deepening of Cyprus relations – United Kingdom repeated the President of the Republic of Cyprus Nikos Anastasiadis who at the same time expressed deep sorrow for him death of Queen Elizabeth II.
In his statements to the Cypriot media after signing the condolence book for her death Queen Elizabeth IIwhich was opened at the residence of the British High Commissioner Irfan Siddiq Obe, President Anastasiades underlined “I expressed the deepest sorrow of the Cypriot people, the Republic of Cyprus, myself personally for the death of Queen Elizabeth”.
“Certainly I had the opportunity, in a short conversation with the High Commissioner, to reiterate our desire to continue and deepen the relations between the two countries, in order to study, of course, the ways of getting involved or creating conditions for the resumption of talks” he stressed according to with the Athens News Agency.
For his part, the High Commissioner said that the death of Queen Elizabeth II “is a huge loss for the people of the United Kingdom, the Commonwealth and for many others around the world. I thank the President for his initiative to sign the condolence book and I hope our next meeting will be on a more pleasant occasion.”
