According to the Chairman of the State Duma Committee on Financial Markets Anatoly Aksakov, the popular mini-game Hamster Kombat in the Telegram messenger has a negative effect on Russians and should be banned.

Currently, the official Hamster Kombat channel on Telegram has 52 million subscribers. The game has become popular not only in Russia — users all over the world “tap” the hamster to earn in-game currency. While these coins cannot be converted into real money, Telegram creator Pavel Durov has promised to issue project tokens on the TON blockchain.

“We must stop it, of course. Such things must be stopped. In my opinion, this is clearly fraud. Manipulation and use of the psychology of citizens. Especially those who do not really want to work, but dream of being able to play with a minimum of effort and get rich,” Aksakov said.

The MP called the popularity of Hamster Kombat “almost psychosis.” He noted that the game is an external influence and could well lead to negative consequences. While the State Duma has not yet taken up the issue in earnest, Aksakov said that “it definitely needs to be discussed.”

According to a recent VTsIOM poll, almost half of respondents know about the Hamster Kombat chatbot, and on Russian marketplaces, the popularity of products that allow you to “tap” the hamster faster has increased significantly.
