Anatoly Aksakov, Chairman of the State Duma Committee on the Financial Market, said that the government supports the legalization of mining in Russia, but is not going to additionally help miners.
In a conversation with Lenta.ru, Aksakov noted that regulation of mining activity has prospects, but this industry is unlikely to require support from the state, because miners are already “earning decent money.”
“Are they some kind of orphans or poor ones? Why Help Mining? Why help him? What is the purpose? What do they produce, socially significant products? ”He said.
Recall that in November, the State Duma proposed creating a working group to regulate cryptocurrency mining. According to Aksakov, a meeting of the working group is to be held this month.
The central bank will also present a special report. On the basis of this data and reports from separately invited regulators, discussions on the regulation of cryptocurrency mining will be built.
Earlier it was reported that in Russia there may be up to 100,000 underground miners, and their power consumption can reach 500-700 MW.
