In the legislation, it is necessary to separately prescribe the taxation procedure for individuals and legal entities involved in cryptocurrency mining, said Anatoly Aksakov, head of the State Duma Committee on the Financial Market. It is reported by Finmarket.
The official stressed that mining is not prohibited in the Russian Federation, but the regulation of activities is not clearly spelled out.
“The issue related to the taxation of this business needs to be properly spelled out in the legislation,” he said.
Aksakov also announced the need to finalize the law on digital financial assets (DFA). According to him, this issue arose in the course of the Central Bank’s consideration of proposals for the issue of CFA from the market and companies, including Transmashholding, Sberbank and Norilsk Nickel.
Earlier, Aksakov proposed to clarify the concept of digital currencies prescribed in the law on digital currency in connection with the possible issue of a digital ruble. He also said that mining should be entered into the register as a type of business activity.
In October, the Governor of the Irkutsk Region Igor Kobzev made a similar proposal to the government. The head of the Ministry of Energy of the Russian Federation Nikolai Shulginov said that the department is working on the issue of excluding the consumption of electricity by miners at tariffs for the population.
