Ancient villa discovered in Cappadocia with inscription in Greek revealing its important owner

A great discovery was made archaeologists in Cappadocia of Turkey, as they brought to light an ancient huge villa, while an inscription in Greek allegedly shows its important owner.

According to the agency Anatoliathe discovery was made in Injesou area and it is a villa that it was built in the 4th century, it contains 33 rooms and is at least 600 square meters, as the excavations are still in progress. It was mainly used during the Byzantine Empire and it probably belonged to a rich and important person, who had relations with the emperor.

THE description said the name “Hyacinthos” and based on archaeologists, it is said to indicate the name of the owner, who is assumed to have had political power to maintain the particular place.

The Director of Culture and Tourism of Caesarea stated that “we came to the conclusion that this place was built in the 4th century. According to the findings, there are also traces dating from the 3rd century onwards. The quality technique used in the floor mosaics suggests that this place was a very important villa at the time.”

“In the space identified as the banquet hall, a Latin inscription was found. In addition, Greek inscriptions were also discovered. There are mostly geometrically decorated mosaics,” he added, among other things.
