And if Valentino says so, happy tie everyone

Seventy-three releasesbetween women and menswear, between more casual looks and put definitely in the evening. And all seventy-three united by one detail, not so negligible, in common: one thin black tie.

Paris Fashion Week, the Valentino FW 2023/24 collection showsarrow

There FW 2023/24 collection designed by Pierpaolo Piccioli for Valentinoand shown only a few hours ago at the Paris Fashion Week, leaves no room for doubt: if there is one accessory that will dominate the next cold season, it will indisputably be the necktie.

But not coloured, not striped or with more or less abstract patterns. Not in wool, and not even oversized, to recreate an alla effect Annie Hall. This time you will have to bet on one thin, very simple and rigorous black tie. On the catwalk we saw it both in contrast on white shirts and dresses, and optically hidden ton sur ton. But also in an original combination with pink lace minidresses and, again, under blazers and even oversized sweaters.

The idea behind the fashion show is not only to play down, but almost to overturn the value and meaning of an accessory which, despite various attempts at extinction, has never really left the men’s wardrobe. But if before it was almost symbol of power and formality, here it becomes the emblem of a revolutionary charge which draws heavily on the imagination of punk and his instinct for rebellion.

As for us, the green light from now on for unbridled and anarchic use of the iconic accessory. Let’s try to put it with everything, provided that the “skeleton” of our outfit is linear, clean and free from unnecessary complications. That thin black line will be enough to create the magic we need.
