After the success of the first season, news broke in March of 2022 that the sequel to Sex and the City – And Just Like That…, had received the green light for one second season. John Corbettwho played one of Carrie’s boyfriends in the original series, Aidan, would reprise his role in season two. And it looks like it won’t just be a fleeting cameo, after images of Carrie (Sarah Jessica Parker) and Aidan (John Corbett) hand in hand on the streets of Manhattan set social media ablaze.

The images show Carrie in a typical her ensembles, in gray velvet boots, a shirt dress and matching tartan coat with a hot pink cape, with long hair down. Carrie’s apparent reunion with her ex sparked the debate in the comments, ranging from “He’s still hot” to “Carrie, PLEASE don’t hurt him!!!!” and even «He’s too good for her», and again «Stop representing toxic relationships as a love story» and «Not him, please».

The reboot was a huge streaming hit, becoming HBO Max’s most-watched series ever by the time it premiered in February of last year. Viewers were happy to return to New York and the whirlwind lives of Carrie and her trusted friends; moreover, new characters have been introduced such as Che Diaz (Sara Ramirez), Lisa Todd Wexley (Nicole Ari Parker) and Seema Patel (Sarita Choudhury), after the creators responded to requests to incorporate more racial diversity and LGBTQIA+ representation into the reboot.

The first season brought fans back into Carrie’s life in a moment of dramatic crisis for the character: at the beginning of the series, in fact, her husband John “Big” Preston (Chris Noth) dies following a heart attack. Being a key character in the series, fans were surprised that he didn’t appear in the first season of And Just Like That…; King later explained, “It just felt like it was too much for Carrie’s life…We wanted her to get over Big’s death first».
Created by Darren Star, the original series of Sex and the City was based on the rubric of New York Observer and on Candace Bushnell’s subsequent book. And Just Like That…, instead, it is developed by Michael Patrick King (writer, director and producer of the original series and films), with Parker, Davis and Nixon among the co-executive producers.
To take the show’s fabulous fashion aesthetic into a new chapter, Molly Rogers and Danny Santiago, who worked in the series’ costume department (under the guidance of the legendary Patricia Field), created some extravagant creations for the new spin-off.
