And Just Like That 3, the review of the series

The last season of And just like thatnow shocked continuation, now polite of the universe of Sex and the City Signed by Michael Patrick King, he ended with our fearless heroine Carrie Bradshaw (Sarah Jessica Parker) on a sunny beach in Greece, who meditated to pause his relationship for five years with the second great love of his life, Aidan (John Corbett). Which adventures could wait for it during this break?

Apparently, this break is not so long. In the third season of And just like thatwhich comes out now (In Italy, on May 30 on Sky and streaming on NowTV, ed), Carrie And Aidan I am still widely in contact. He goes to find her a couple of times; they make embarrassing telephone sex (and unpleasant); And, in line with Carrie’s solipsism, adorable only at times, she talks about him without stopping. Most of the first six episodes of this season of And just like that It is dedicated to the question of Aidan: too much, I dare say. The series introduces some new interesting facets of the character of Aidan, in particular as regards its questionable parental style. However, he leaves these themes mostly unexplored, trusting in the fact that we are more interested in the pit and spring of his distance relationship with Carrie. But what we really want (or at least, what I really want) is to see Carrie free.

After all, it has always been like this also in Sex and the City. While going into ecstasy and shivering for the various sentimental weaves that followed each other for entire seasons, we always confided in the fact that in the end Carrie would detach himself, returning to being the single in search of himself with whom we fell in love at the beginning. And just like that It is a different type of product, plus one SOAP serial work that an episodic exploration of the oddities of sex and appointments. It is legitimate to expect articulated narratives. But Carrie, still interpreted with Sagacia by Parker, would benefit from more dynamic stories.

We almost arrive in mid -season when a new romantic opportunity is presented and And just like that Back to take that family tone of discovery. It is not only the potential attraction that lived together: there is also an entire plot on a friend (Carrie) who identifies himself in another (Miranda), which And just like that (who tends to isolate his girls in stuck ecosystems) is rarely. One might think that the screenwriters rely more on the well -consolidated chemistry between Parker, Cynthia nixon And Kristin DavisInstead they basically keep the characters too busy so that they can really frequent each other.

Miranda He is facing the life of a fifty -year -old divorced and just declared lesbian, which means that Nixon must once again endure a string of humiliations that the series would never inflict on anyone else. But Miranda’s path actually stabilizes: at a certain point a stable flame enters the scene, and it is nice to see her move with a little more security in the many elegant environments of the series.

Charlotte It is taken from its usual attacks of compass hysteria, weighed down by senseless plots (such as a scandal of Cancel Culture which involves one of his dogs) and slightly more relevant issues, such as stress for the university registration procedure. After a few episodes comes a twistwho invests Charlotte of a sense of gravity that in my opinion knows of excessive and too drastic compensation for the frivolity that preceded it. However, Davis manages to find humanity in all that repressed hysteria: which was his remarkable (and underestimated) contribution to Sex and the City from the beginning.

The three main characters are struggling with so many things that it is difficult to think that there is room for anything else. Nevertheless, And just like that continues his mission to convince us of the validity of Seema (Sarita Choudhury) And Lisa Todd Wexley (Nicole Ari Parker). Intelligently, the third season moves Seema more concretely in the role of “New Samantha”even without all explicit sex. Although Choudhury is nice, however, the character of Seema never seems to go beyond the sketch of an extraordinarily rich and skilled woman in business. His professional difficulties are boring (and involve the most hateful cameo of the season so far) while his sentimental misadventures are caricatured (even if they involve the best extraordinary participation of the season, that of the great and reborn Cheri Oteri).

For his part, Ari Parker continues to provide one of the most solid interpretations of the series, but his character seems lost in the background of a completely different series. There are family and working dramas to be addressed, but none of this will be traced (on a thematic or narrative level) to the action of the other characters. It is blocked on an island, with Charlotte as the only link with the rest of the group. Yet, in her small world in itself, she is given a lot to do: which means that there is less time for the main characters.

What happens within this restricted circle is often compelling, even if the comedy of the season is often weak and forced, in an attempt to find the elegant thematic rhyme and the witty pace of the best moments of Sex and the City. It is always pleasant, however – if, like me, you are so devoted to this universe that you would practically look at anything to her.

This time, however, it is a little more difficult, given that these rich people live in a sort of Alternative Americaunaware of everything. If you look at a series like this, it is to escape the bitter and frightening reality of our era (and usually works as a pleasant distraction). But the ability to And just like that To transport us has a little faded: now that the country is entering what seems its terminal phase, all that ostentatious wealth seems more cynical, aggressive even. But, since I’m stupid, I will follow anyway And just like that in oblivion. Although, just like Carrie’s new penthouse on Gramercy Park, fabulous but not furnished, it is a Luxurious but poor content structure.
