The body of singer Anderson Leonardo, from Molejo, will be laid to rest this Sunday (28), from 11 am, at the Jardim da Saudade Cemetery, in the west zone of Rio. The artist died this Friday (26), due to cancer inguinal. The funeral will take place at 4pm.

Anderson Molejão, as he was known, was born in Rio de Janeiro and, together with Jimmy Batera, Andrezinho, Lúcio Nascimento, Claumirzinho and Robson Calazans, was one of the creators of the Rio de Janeiro pagode group “Molejo”.

Anderson was the father of four children: singer and multi-instrumentalist Leozinho Bradock, 29 years old, Rafael 'Molejinn', 28, who is part of Grupo Surpreender, Alessa Cristyne, 30 years old, and Alice, who turns 4 in May.

Anderson was admitted to Hospital Unimed, in Barra da Tijuca, and his health worsened last Sunday (21).

Health

The singer revealed that he was diagnosed with cancer in October 2022. Anderson, at the time, explained that he had a rare type of cancer and confirmed that the treatment was to prevent the disease from spreading to other regions.

Anderson was hospitalized at the end of last year to treat a pulmonary embolism that was initially diagnosed as pneumonia. At the time, the five other members of Molejo continued with their professional commitments.

In February of this year, Anderson was hospitalized again due to severe pain in the abdominal region and was discharged almost a month later after undergoing a hypogastric nerve plexus block.

Artistic life

In addition to singing the band's vocals, Anderson played the cavaquinho and was a composer.

The group had a career spanning more than three decades and had several hits, such as “Cilada” and “Dança da Vassoura” and formed several partnerships with other famous artists, such as Anitta, Art Popular, Léo Santana, Thiaguinho and Leo Russo.

Catapulted by the song “Caçamba”, Grupo Molejo’s first album was released in 1993. “Molejo Club” was the group’s last album to date, released in 2016, and brought new tracks from the band since 2010.
