Mrs Edi lived in Lajatico, a town in the province of Pisa immersed in the hills, she ran a farm together with her husband Alessandro, and was a fundamental figure in the life of Andrea Bocelli. It was she, in fact, who accompanied her son during the most difficult years, when he was now certain that at 13 he would go blind from glaucoma. And it was she who first guessed Andrea’s musical talent, to the point of enrolling him at the Pietro Mascagni Music Institute in Livorno, allowing him to have a very precious classical setting for his career and his future.

In Lajatico, where she lived all her life with her husband, Bocelli had decided, after the success, to make the Teatro del Silenzio a reality, a large natural arena where once a year a show is celebrated to which Bocelli invites great international artists.
