Andrea Bocelli talks about the possibility of retiring: “There may come a day”

The Italian tenor Andrea Bocelli 66, said he has no plans to retire. The singer with over 30 years of career does not intend to leave the stage anytime soon.

In an interview with People magazine, the singer assured that he will only leave the stage if his voice is no longer the same. “When I think of retired people, I always imagine elderly men in pajamas, sitting on the bench and feeding the pigeons. For sure, There may come a day when my voice will no longer be the same and will no longer be adequate to offer the performance that my audience expects from me,” Bocelli told the publication.

Andrea Bocelli promised to continue giving his all until his “last performance”. “The good Lord can continue to surprise me, and I will welcome everything,” he said.

“The reality far exceeded expectations. I am already very happy and satisfied with what I have achieved, and I will try to do my best until the last performance I give”, he continued.

The artist admitted that the special show was one of the few experiences that really “moved” him over the years. “I’m a former country boy and I’m not easily moved. I don’t get emotional for nothing. On the other hand, I am more aware that I shouldn’t take anything for granted.”

“So, everything that was happening in that fantastic setting of the Teatro del Silenzio, which is a piece of the world where I was born and raised, made me feel grateful; grateful to everyone who was there and grateful to the good God for the great gift I received”, he said, referring to the celebrity-filled show at the Teatro del Silenzio, in Lajatico, his hometown in the Tuscany region.
